"We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations caught with ourselves in the net of life and time..."    - Henry Beston

"'What about Butters?' was the first question that raced through our minds when we began planning our wedding. Everyone we know who loves Butters and cared for him in the past would all be invited to the wedding. We had no clue what we were going to do. I began researching and found the Hounds On Holiday's website. It seemed like the perfect fit for our fabulous two-year-old yellow Labrador. Butters had never been to a kennel and for our previous vacations, he has always gone to my in-laws' farm.

I contacted Hounds On Holiday regarding our situation. We needed four days of care to prepare and recover from our wedding, but also wanted Butters to be returned for family photos with us. Hounds On Holiday would make sure this would happen (at an additional reasonable fee). After filling out a detailed questionnaire about Butters home life, Hounds On Holiday found him the perfect host family. In his new home for the weekend, he could maintain his leisurely lifestyle of staying with his humans, either playing or sleeping - which are his only two speeds.

Hounds On Holiday picked up Butters from our home in the middle of wedding preparation chaos on Friday. Butters happily jumped into the vehicle and we knew he would have a great time. On Saturday, the host family brought him to our photo location, and as an extra surprise, had Butters dressed in a bow tie! Butters is an important member of our family, and we needed a family photo with him from our wedding day. That moment thrilled my husband, to have our dog with us as part of our wedding day. It made me so happy to see him so happy.

Butters had no problem transitioning back to his host family, and he happily returned to us on Monday morning. Not only did he come back to us, but he came with a detailed journal of his adventures, and then he slept for the next 48 hours straight because he was so exhausted from his weekend. On Tuesday, we talked to him about his weekend, and when I said the host family's dog's name, his face lit up, the same way when I say my in-laws' dog's name. Hounds On Holiday also went the extra mile to communicate with us all the pictures from his weekend.

I cannot stress enough how stress-free the whole experience of working with Hounds On Holiday was, and how I would recommend this service to any bride planning her wedding or to any family who needs extended time apart from their dog. Our wedding weekend was even more enjoyable knowing our Butters was well cared for and loved."
